Well now we really have come full circle!
Saturday, April 22, 2006Dean Edwards has a brief post titled " How To Load And Parse XML Data Without ActiveX" where he explains the virtues of XML data islands in IE over traditional AJAX methods.
I had to chuckle. Being an intranet developer myself, for the past few years I've been in the mindset of bringing more of the web into the intranet. Traditionally the intranet is seen as largely conservative while the web progressive and bleeding edge. But I've never seen anyone attempt to bring little of the intranet out to the web.
I bet that there are thousands of Intranets today who have been using XML data islands for years. I was contracted to a major Queensland bank in 2000 and they certianly were.
This AJAX thing is just going around and around isn't it?
