A Million Dollar Home Page is All the Rage

Friday, January 13, 2006

After the incredible success of the original Million Dollar Home Page, a million lame copies seem to have sprang up. A Google search will unearth a whole bunch of the slimey little suckers. Here are some lame copies:

YAWN. Here are a few that add a twist

Good luck to the guy! He was the only one with enough guts to actually try it first on his own. The story behind the site was what made it popular. The rest of them are just bozos. If you want to be a bozo too, here's the how-to: " Formula for Creating Unsuccessful Million Dollar Homepage Spin Offs". I'd put these guys in the same basket as those link directories of the 1990's, or domain parkers.

Mmm...Interesting article. Well, I'd hate to disappoint you, but I've placed my link on a number of those 'lame' sites and they seem to be working for me just fine.I'm getting more visitors than ever. My personal opinion is that some of the newer sites like BillboardBounty.com have a huge potential and will be the ones to generate more traffic in the long run.I, personally, wouldn't recommend posting your ad on sites that were made using the ready-made pixel scripts, as they are the ones that end up looking lame and generally unappealing.Be more creative, people, and create your own unique pixel sites!Ciao!

Hey Michael, I totally agree with you, i beleive it's a fair deal and i got my industrial partners "Global Ecological Treatment " to place their link on Billboardbounty. I also know plenty of other people who are in the process of acquiring space on BillboardBounty.I dont understand the attitude of the site owner claiming that these sites are a waste whereas i beleive this is going to be the entrance to a new and modern internet era.Regards,

"the entrance to a new and modern internet era" Oh yeah, because that one thing the net doesn't have enough of is advertising. So webpages that are solid advertising links and have absolutely zero content should be the most popular websites on the internet! GET A CLUE, pixel ad sites are no better than domain parking webpages with their dodgy search engines or the link swap sites that have existed on the net for more than a decade. There's nothing new about any of this and it's just as lame as it ever was. Your vote of confidence is lacking credability as you are clearly the type of slime who would buy into this kind of gimmick.

Oh well, you remind me of one of those 'clever' people that used to speak ill of Yahoo, Google and AltaVista when they first entered the market. And where are they now? Last time I checked, I believe Google was the leader of the stock market and Yahoo already has its foot in China - that's a population of 1.3 billion. But, what do I know, maybe these growing giants "are no better than domain parking webpages".

Last time I checked they actually do something useful, so there's no real comparison is there.
