I've never owned an Apple product but this made me sit up and take notice :

# That is the sexiest interface I've ever seen on a mobile device.

# I agree with John ! Don't need the phone, just give me the PDA!

# Forgetting practicalities & hardware specs for a moment, for a company to conceive of and engineer a mobile device so close to the perfect one I have in my head is mind blowing! It restores my faith in the possibility that a company might be able to make a portable computing/communication device that I really want.

# For all the vaporous crap Microsoft spouts about merging 'digital lifestyle' and 'digital workstyle' - Apple are actually doing it, making it concrete and visible - a simple vision understandable by everyone.

# Regarding the practical aspects, Jeremy reminded me (via Slashdot ) that the original iPod was a Mac only - Firewire device!
